Chris has been really excited for a while about taking Griffin out on the kayak and fishing. I've been a little nervous about it, but an opportunity presented itself to go out with my good friends, the parents of the 10-10 boys.
It started off very cute. Griffin had his cap and sunscreen on and was "helping" Chris with the kayak.
"Griffin, look at Sam. He can wear his life jacket without crying. They are the same lifejacket!"
"Griffin, look! Daddy has a lifejacket, too. He loves it and is gonna wear it for a long time." (Notice Griffin still trying desperately to get it off.)
"Daddy is still wearing his...You can do it, bud! It'll be fun!"
"Come on, dude..."
"Oh, well. Let's try it anyway..."
Meanwhile, Walt is also wearing his lifejacket, ever so pleasantly....
A pictures says a thousand words...
Can you see the back extension there? As in, the "fit-throwing" position?
Meanwhile, Sam is in the canoe with Brian - and the DOG - and has been for about ten minutes...happily.
The rest of the story is not caught in pictures because it involved me coming to the rescue - not of Griffin, but of a Dad whose kayak dream had been shattered and who had just witnessed the screams of his first born scaring away all the fish....
Griffin, we love this about you. You are strong willed and will not do what you do not want to do, until it becomes your idea.
Lord Jesus, help Chris and I to cultivate this uncanny power of an eighteen month old to further Your kingdom. Amen.
