Griffin's New "I'm gonna be a big brother room"

So, have we mentioned that Griffin is going to be a big brother!?  Yep!  This November - we hope - Griffin will have a new baby brother (name coming soon.)  Chris and I deliberated - seriously - about what to do about furniture.  Well, it was mostly me stalling with the decisions.  Bunk beds?  Will the boys share a room one day?  Do we let Griffin keep his nursery furniture we bought with him in mind?  and the whole lifetime crib thing?  What to do, what to do....

We decided on the bunk bed route.  I was concerned that with the boys being about three years apart, they may not share a room well.  And wouldn't they eventually be frustrated with Chris and I, "Come on, Mom and Dad.  We have enough rooms.  Can't we each have our own room?"

My wisdom filled mother gave me the go-ahead I needed for the bunk beds.  She said, "You are the mom and dad.  You tell them where they sleep.  It is your house."

"Ohhhhhh.  Ha - I guess you're right."

Bunk beds here we come.  And Griffin loves them.  I'm so happy he loves his room and we got it done in time for it to be all because of him and not you-have-to-move-in-here-because-the-baby-is-taking-your-stuff.

Yes, those book shelves are empty.  I'm not quite done.  There is also a lamp on that shelf now since the pic was taken.  The star is from his nursery - something I made for him.  The ledges, I love.  A little stolen idea from the pottery barn catalouge.  Bought them clearance at Gardenridge and then spraypainted them.  The bottom two shelves are low enough that Griffin can get to them and play with the toys and them put them away.

The framed name above the fish tank is from his nursery, too.  We do have a mattress and bedding on the top bunk, now, too.  Just didn't at the time the pics were taken.

Griffin, this room is just for you!  And we pray that one day you will invite your baby brother to come stay in it with you.  May many imaginative adventures happen in here and lofty, bold dreams.  May you learn to be brave in here.  May you say many prayers in here and read many books.

Here's to being a party of the miracle of you growing up!  Love you, Boogi!
