inspiration from overseas

a dear friend of mine wrote a post titled "things left unwritten."  i have been feeling this way.  why won't i just write things down!?  it won't take long and not many people read it, so it doesn't have to be great, just good enough for me to remember one day when i want to look back.  so, i'm inspired.  i've got to get a few things written down.

- Griffin is really starting to imagine things.  He tells me he sees red owls and blue ducks in random places.  We have had a real problem with buffalos and alligator in our back yard.  He regularly takes pictures of vultures in the yard, too.  He tells stories with his trains, they become friends.  They help each other, they get hurt, they need bandaids.  It's so fun.

- Speaking of bandaids, it's not uncommon for Griffin to hear me grunt or just breath "ow" when I get up and he wants to give me a kiss and get me a bandaid.  "you k, mommy?  Need a bandaid?  Did you get a owie?  I sawwy, Mommy.  Yo welcome."  (Not sure where the your welcome is fitting in, but Griffin finds a way for it to fit in lots of places."

- Daddy is still the funniest person on the planet.

- Every night after bath, we put on a hooded towel and "sneak" on someone.  If Chris gives the bath, they "sneak" on me.  If I give the bath, we "sneak" on Daddy if he's home or Ollee if he's not.  I don't know what I'll do when finally one day he stops asking to do that.

- Bathtime routine?  Oh, yes.  We have one.  Bathwater.  Teetee in the potty.  Play and wash.  Sneak.  Lotion an pajamas.   Then.....Larry.  What's Larry, you may ask?  It's the movie Night at the Museum.  Griffin was first introduced to it by Nana last November, I think.  He still loves it.  What's not to love?  Dinosaurs, soldiers, lions, cowboys?  Thanks, Nana. This will be a favorite in our house for a long, long time.

- Since I got to start working part time in April, Griffin and I have gotten to do lots of the things I always imagined myself doing with a toddler.  We play play-doh, bake cookies, color, play sidewalk chalk... But one of Griffin's favorite things to do is take his yellow dump truck he got from Uncle Ira on on his first birthday and his red fire truck he got from Santa Claus last Christmas and race them down the driveway.  The firetruck ALWAYS wins, but it never gets old.  I actually really enjoy playing this with him, too.

- Griffin counts things (houses, cars, windows, animals) as we drive down the road.  He's finally catching on to saying "thirty" but for a while he say "twenty nine, twenty ten, twenty elweven, twenty tweve, twenty thirteen,..."  you get the idea.  Too, too cute.  I almost hated to teach him differently.  But the math nerd inside me won out.

- Griffin recently became obsessed with two certain shows.  The Little Einstiens baby elephant episode and the Backyardigans Elephant on the run episode.  Chris and I have no idea why, but we went though about two weeks with constant requests to watch these.  Griffin had me buying peanuts that he was eating and feeding all his toys, too.  It was pretty fun.

That's about all I got right now.  I'm glad to get some of this precious-ness written down.

Griffin, we love you more than you will ever know.
