13 Months (on 11/15/11)

Aaaaagh!  I'm desperately trying to catch up here!  I wanted to get the 13 month post up at least before he turns 14 months!

I'm going the easy route: the facts and then the pics...so I know most of you will skip on down to the pics ;) I would. ;)

It's funny - SOOOO much of this list has already changed ... a lot of it had by the time he turned 13 months, but hey, this is about what he did during the month, so here goes.  You'll just have to say tuned to the 14 month post to see how different he is!

13 months:
  • Griffin is walking around everywhere!  He is starting to stand of from half kneel and is getting good at standing from squat
  • Griffin thinks his daddy is hilarious
  • Griffin is starting to play wrestling with mommy and daddy!
  • Griffin is drinking whole milk - but only from a bottle.  Mommy keeps trying to put it in a sippy cup, but Griffin won’t have it.
  • G still LOVES books!  He’s starting to get a little bit more interested in story books that don’t have real photos instead of illustrations
  • Griffin knows what doorknobs are and how to use them!  if only he could reach them all the time.... ;)
  • Griffin is starting to like Sesame Street some. :)
  • This little guy still LOVES his blanket.  It’s so sweet how it calms him and he cuddles with it.
  • Griffin is beginning to play Mr. Bashful.  He works and works to get people’s attention and then buries his head in mommy’s neck or chest when they finally look at him.  It’s the cutest thing!
  • Griffin had his first trip to the park to play on the equipment the day after his birthday...I think we’re gonna need a little more practice. :)
  • Favorite books by far are Hand Hand Finger Thumb and Llama Llama
  • Griffin is facing forward in his car seat!
  • Griffin got his first haircut on 11/4/11.  I’d like to say he loved it, but he HATED it!
  • Griffin is starting to prefer walking over crawling.
  • Griffin says “fsh” (fish), “uh uh” (uh oh), “duh” (dog), and sometimes “up” for “up!”
  • Griffin loves to play underneath the table.  He thinks he has his own personal fort under there.  It’s so fun to play the “I’m gonna get you!” game under there with him!
  • Griffin is starting to dance more and more.  It’s so cute!
  • Griffin learned high five, low five, and “gimme knuckles.”  We are working on blowing kisses
  • Griffin’s daddy got him a fish tank and he LOVES it!  We all do!
  • Griffin knows what phones are and what they are for - he picks up our phones or things shaped like our phones and places them up by his ear or on his shoulder and walks around babbling.  Love. It.

First trip to the park...he liked it, but was still a little uncertain...

This toy seemed to be more his style

Will you please stop taking pictures so I can swing again??

Griffin's friends Walt and Sam - it's impossible to have 3 one year olds smile at the same time!

Griffin's new fish and fish tank!!  This has been so fun for us.  We can thank his cousins for his love for fish.  He wants to be just like you three!

My happy little guy who would rather eat green beans, lima beans, or broccoli and than buttered  up mashed potatoes. Crazy!

A glimpse of the first hair cut...

Griffin - you have made this such a fun month for us.  We are loving watching you grow and learn.  We stay up at nigh talking about where you got this or that trait...it's so fun.  We love you, Baby, and want nothing more than for you to keep that smile on your face forever.

Happy Halloween!!

For Halloween, Griffin when to Safe Treat on the square with my parents and his cousins, Conner, Micah, and Josiah.  They were so excited to see Griffin as Mickey Mouse.  It was really cute.

I had a blast walking with him around the square.  People could not get enough of my little cutie - especially with those other three cuties.  We were a cuteness force!  So fun.  Here are a few of my favorite pics:

This one was actually taken the Saturday before Thanksgiving (11/19), but they are in their  costumes so I decided to add it to this post.  Micah - Griffin loves you so much!

These two didn't get together on Halloween, but they did in November...they weren't so happy about putting those tights back on...

One of my favorite pictures yet of Griffin ;)

I just love these two boys!  Griffin, we can't wait to see what you will want to be next year!  You're dad is hoping for something a little more manly that what your mom picked out this year ;)

The One Year Birthday Party! - over a month late!

Griffin's first birthday party was on his actual birthday - a rare treat!  I ordered his invitations a while back, but was definitely trying to figure out what I was going to do for his cake the day before...time got away from me.  But, the day came and he turned one!

It was kind of sad because he threw up the night before so we had to call his friends and tell them "come at your own risk."  None of them wanted to come, and I don't blame them!

All of his family showed up, though.  Here are a few (ha!) snap shots of the day.  I'm just gonna write little captions because I'm trying to get the darn thing posted before Christmas!

Sweet baby trying to hang in the ball pit...he wasn't feeling great...
I wish he had some people who loved him and would buy him gifts ;)

Griffin was a big fan of wearing the hat ;)

Griffin was so funny - he wanted to share his cake with Chris and me.  So - he wiped it all over our faces.

12 months

What an angel...

I really can't believe my little guy turned one...almost a month ago now.  What an amazing year this has been.  Griffin has taught Chris and I so much about ourselves, about our personalities, about our relationship, about God....what a miracle.

I'm going to do the line of up the year in my next post.  This post is just for the reflection of September 16 to October 15.  So here are our favorite pic, milestones, and memories:

 23 pounds 1 ounce (50th percentile)

head circumference 18 cm (74th percentile)

31 inches tall (95th percentile!!)

Griffin says Mamamama, Dadadadad, fsh fsh (fish), uh uh uh (uh oh, we think)

Mommy calls Griffin “G” “G Force” “Champ” “Sugar Plum” “Puddin’ Pie” and “Baby”
Daddy calls Griffin “hey man.” ;)

Griffin walking everywhere!  Something clicked at his friend Walt’s birthday party and his few steps became 10-20 steps!

Griffin loves to eat cheese, pears, and SPAGHETTI.  His favorite juice is orange tangerine.

Griffin loves to play peek-a-boo and is really starting to love to play with trucks.  He loves anything with wheels.
Uncle Ira and Aunt Kelley got him this truck for his first birthday.  It was a HIT!

Climbing!  Griffin is climbing the couch at Aunt Rachel’s and walking across it!

Griffin is starting to throw tantrums.  Mommy says “no” and Griffin just laughs....uh oh.  We’ve got trouble. ;)

Griffin knows a few tricks:  he waves, give high fives, and is starting to blow kisses

Griffin still loves to play with his tooth brush....and eat mommy's glasses...AND loves, loves, loves to play underneath the table.  He thinks it's his own private fort.

Griffin is such a sweet natured little guy.  He is so easy to get a smile from and he babbles the sweetest little sounds and squeals.  It makes me soooo happy!

Griffin really understands the processes in the morning of mommy or daddy leaving and he lets us know.  He stands at the back window looking out and cries... it’s the sweetest and saddest thing...

Griffin is so good at playing with Ollee!

Another one of Griffin’s favorite toys is is books.  He LOVES to look at books and to pull them all down from his shelf.

Griffin is so funny when he gets around other babies or his cousins.  He always reaches straight for their faces and wants to touch and tug at them...or pull out someone’s pacifier... :)

Griffin had his first taste of whole milk at the end of this month - and he liked it!

Griffin loves, loves, loves to walk outside.  It’s always so calming and soothing to him.  He also loves to walk up and down steps.  We could do that for an entire afternoon it seems like sometimes!

Griffin still loves to play with cars and trucks.  He makes the motor sound with his mouth and pushes them across the floor.  It’s like he was born knowing how to do it - Chris nor I taught him to do that!

This was not Griffin's Halloween costume this year, but it was mine when I was one!  So sweet.  My mom made it, too.  Right, Mom?  Or was it MeeMaw?

Griffin and his Yogi....

My sweet sleeping naked baby...oh and Mike from Monsters Inc. :)

Griffin, we love you so much!  You have such an easy smile and I know God has answered our prayers for a happy baby and will continue to answer them for a happy and joyful little boy who can spread HIS warmth and joy to others.  We are SO proud of you.  And Baby, as much as I want to cling to every second of your tiny-ness, I can hardly wait to get to know you better as you grow up.  But, grown up or not, you will ALWAYS be my baby.
